University Career Center

Increase awareness among JMU seniors in the College of Business of the University Career Center as a helpful, approachable resource for planning life after graduation. Using a relatable, action-driven message, position the Career Center as the go-to place for support and guidance to motivate seniors to book appointments and take the next steps toward their future.
Planning life after graduation at the University Career Center doesn’t have to be scary. We want students to feel confident, not like they are in a horror movie when asked about life after graduation.
For this collaborative project, my team and I produced an engaging visual advertisement for the JMU University Career Center to increase student awareness of its resources. We began by researching how students currently perceive the Career Center and identified a clear disconnect between the services offered and the services students believed existed. Using these insights, we developed a concept centered around the relatability of the dreaded question, "What are your plans after graduation?" Our big idea was that "Planning life after graduation at the University Career Center doesn't have to be scary." This campaign ran during Halloween, so we leaned into the spooky vibe. The final video was posted on the University Career Center's Instagram, @jmucareer. This was a group project with team members: Jamie Clingenpeel, Frances Sanderson, and Julia Kruger.
